Almost two-thirds of Swiss voters will reject, on September 27, the proposals to redefine neutrality, which would prevent the country from imposing economic sanctions or collaborating with NATO, according to a survey conducted for the newspapers 20 Minuten and Tamedia, as reported by Reuters cited by Digi 24.
Approximately 62% of the 13,154 respondents expressed opposition to the initiative supported by the Swiss People's Party (SVP), while only 32% agreed. The Swiss government opposes this proposal, which aims for a stricter definition of neutrality, prohibiting joining military alliances and participating in external conflicts, according to Digi24.
Critics, including from the center-right FDP party, believe that such a measure would favor aggressive nations.
Additionally, another proposal regarding Switzerland's food security, which aims to increase domestic production and protect natural resources, faces similar opposition, with 65% of respondents against it.
