The German Federal Police reported a drop in unauthorized entries at land borders, with 7,960 cases recorded since 8 May. Of these, 6,193 people were turned back, including 285 asylum seekers. The government relies on the Asylum Act, which allows applications from countries considered safe to be rejected. Also, 274 traffickers were arrested and police identified extremists. Compared with last year, the total number of unauthorized entries fell in the first half of the year.
