A Romanian man was stopped upon entering Germany after police discovered that he had presented a forged document / He was already banned from entering the country

A 58-year-old Romanian man was stopped on Wednesday shortly after entering Germany through the Hörbranz border crossing, after police discovered that he was carrying a fake document and was banned from entering the country.

Federal police officers from Lindau checked a car with British number plates, in which two Romanians were traveling. The 52-year-old driver identified himself properly, but the passenger showed the officers only a photograph of an identity document on his phone. Following the checks, the police found the man's genuine document in his wallet, which he had initially refused to hand over.

The authorities established that the Romanian man was subject to a ban on entering and staying in Germany, valid until April 2028. He had been deported to Romania in April 2021 and had also been detected in Germany in 2024. In this case, he was also fined approximately 1,600 euros.

The man is being investigated for identity theft, illegal entry and illegal stay. The driver was accused of aiding and abetting, but was allowed to continue his journey. The passenger was sent back to Austria and received a new ban on entering and staying, for four years.
