MEP Siegfried Mureșan participated in a protest of Romanian and European farmers in Strasbourg, where he discussed the cuts in the agricultural sector proposed by the European Commission for the Common Agricultural Policy. Mureșan stated that he will firmly oppose these reductions and will advocate for fair subsidies for all farmers in the European Union. As the chief negotiator of the European Parliament for the future multiannual budget, he emphasized the need for a well-funded agricultural policy, considering the challenges faced by European agriculture, such as geopolitical crises and climate change. Approximately 200 farmers from 20 countries protested against budget cuts, including farmers from Romania.
