The lawyers of the Chinese platform Shein stated that the French state is unfairly targeting it in a political and media "crusade," during a hearing in Paris. Shein is facing a major scandal after the consumer protection authority found illegal products on the site, including banned weapons and child-like sex dolls. In this context, the French government has called for strict safety measures, including age verification for users and restrictions for minors accessing pornographic content. The state attorney requested the suspension of the marketplace until compliance evidence is presented, but withdrew the request for a complete suspension. Shein has deactivated the marketplace in France, but the online store remains active. The hearing continues, and the court's decision will be announced on December 19. This situation is part of a broader context of regulating Chinese platforms in the European Union, amid concerns about consumer safety.
