The French government, led by Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, will ask a court in Paris to suspend the Shein platform for three months, after discovering that it sells child-like sex dolls and prohibited weapons. Although Shein has disabled its marketplace in France, the clothing section remains active. The court will review the case as part of an expedited judicial procedure, summoning the company Infinite Styles Services Co Ltd, which manages Shein's operations in Europe.
The French government accuses Shein of not conducting adequate checks on the products sold, despite the available technical capabilities. Additionally, authorities have requested telecom operators to block access to the Shein website, intensifying measures against other platforms selling illicit products. France has also asked the European Commission to open an official investigation into Shein. The court's decision is not expected immediately, but in the coming weeks.
