Roland Lescure, the French Minister of Economy, stated that he will request a ban on access to the Shein platform in France if the online retailer continues to sell child-like sex dolls. These products have already been reported to the courts by DGCCRF, the fraud oversight authority. Shein has claimed that it has removed these items and will review the platform to prevent the listing of similar products.
Lescure emphasized that the sale of illegal items is a major problem, mentioning that other platforms could be involved. He also acknowledged the difficulties related to using VPNs to circumvent French legislation. Despite the controversies, Shein will open a physical store in Paris, which has sparked criticism from officials and the public.
