The secret services in Serbia, in collaboration with Russia, conducted tests with sound cannons on dogs to assess the impact of these acoustic devices, according to government documents consulted by Politico.
The tests took place after the protests in Belgrade, where demonstrators reported severe symptoms caused by a sound wave.
Although the Serbian government denied the use of sound cannons against protesters, the documents confirm that experiments were conducted to verify the effects of these weapons on animals.
Dogs were exposed to sounds of up to 150 decibels, equivalent to the noise of a plane taking off. The experiments were carried out without the necessary approvals, which generated criticism from animal rights advocates. The tests were conducted to assess whether the symptoms described by protesters are the same as the effects produced by these "sound cannons." Opposition politicians accused the government of covering up the use of these devices against citizens.
