The federal justice system in the United States confirmed on Friday, on appeal, the sentencing of Sam Bankman-Fried, former cryptocurrency mogul, to 25 years in prison for one of the largest recent financial frauds. At 34 years old, Bankman-Fried was found guilty of fraud, conspiracy to commit crimes, and money laundering. The New York Court of Appeals also upheld his obligation to repay 11 billion dollars to the clients of his cryptocurrency exchange platform, FTX.

He is accused of having used clients' assets without their consent for transactions through his sister company, Alameda, for real estate purchases and political donations. Although Bankman-Fried requested a pardon from President Donald Trump, he ruled out the possibility of his pardon in a recent interview.
