Shortly after the expiration of the temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, Russian forces resumed attacks on several Ukrainian regions, including Dnipropetrovsk and the Kyiv area. According to Ukrainian authorities, one man was killed and four others were injured as a result of drone strikes, artillery, and air bombs. Near the capital, several residential buildings, a kindergarten, and homes were damaged in the bombings reported by local officials.

The three-day ceasefire, announced by Donald Trump and which came into effect on May 9, was marked by mutual accusations of violating the ceasefire, although there were no major attacks. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine refrained from long-range attacks during the ceasefire period but warned that any resumption of the Russian offensive "would have immediate visible consequences."
