Despite an informal pause in hostilities set for negotiations in Abu Dhabi, Russia continued its attacks, resulting in the death of six people in Odessa and Kharkiv. The attack on January 27 targeted a train with 291 passengers, using Shahed kamikaze drones. Russian negotiators apologized for the breach of the agreement, explaining that not the entire Russian army had been informed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as a "terrorist act" and called for Russia to be held accountable for the escalation of violence. Additionally, a new ceasefire was mediated by Donald Trump, who urged Russia to suspend attacks on Kyiv until February 1. Although there is no formal agreement, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is willing to stop attacks on energy infrastructure if Russia does the same. This situation arises in the context of an expected period of extreme cold in Ukraine, with temperatures potentially reaching -30 °C.
