A senior official of the White House confirmed on Thursday to AFP that Russia will be invited to the G20 summit scheduled for December in Florida, although a formal invitation has not yet been issued. Russia, as a member of the G20, will be able to participate in the ministerial meetings and the leaders' summit, which will take place at a golf resort owned by the Trump family. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin stated that his country has been invited to participate in the summit "at the highest level." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned that no decision has yet been made regarding Vladimir Putin's participation, who is subject to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for war crimes related to the conflict in Ukraine. In the past, Putin did not attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg, being represented by his economic advisor. The United States holds the rotating presidency of the G20 this year, an important forum for global economic cooperation.
