The nuclear authority of Russia, Rosatom, announced the initiation of the planned evacuation of 198 workers from the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, after a projectile hit the perimeter of the plant. The head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, stated that the evacuation began immediately after the attack, with buses departing towards the Iran-Armenia border. The spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, condemned the attack, calling it 'malevolent' and emphasized the need to protect nuclear facilities from military hostilities. Following the attack, one person was killed and a building was damaged. The International Atomic Energy Agency was informed by Iran, but did not report an increase in radiation levels. The Bushehr plant is the only one in Iran that uses Russian nuclear fuel, and Russia takes back the waste to reduce proliferation risks. So far, approximately 400 Russian specialists have been evacuated from Iran in the context of international tensions.
