The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Russian President Vladimir Putin will have a meeting next week in Kyrgyzstan, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, where they will discuss a recently signed agreement between the two countries.

This agreement, worth 25 billion dollars, aims to build new nuclear power plants, according to the Iranian news agency Mehr. Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed that the site for a new nuclear facility near the Persian Gulf has already been designated. The project is not related to the memorandum of understanding signed in June between Iran and the USA.

The SCO, an organization that brings together 10 members from Europe and Asia, discusses regional stability and trade. The announcement comes in the context of a recent visit by CIA chief John Ratcliffe to Moscow, suggesting that the topic of Iran may be on the agenda of international discussions.
