Russia has announced that it will request changes to the revised peace plan in 20 points proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to a source close to the Kremlin, the document is seen as a "starting point" for negotiations, but omits important aspects for Russia, such as guarantees against NATO expansion and Ukraine's neutral status in the event of joining the European Union. Moscow believes that the restrictions on Ukrainian armed forces are too lenient and demands clarifications regarding the status of the Russian language in Ukraine, as well as the lifting of sanctions and frozen assets.
Although Russia is analyzing the document "coldly", it does not intend to reject it so as not to upset the United States. Zelensky's peace plan includes a non-aggression agreement and security guarantees from the US and NATO, but the issue of occupied territories remains unresolved. Moscow demands the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donetsk, while Washington proposes a compromise through a free economic zone, subject to a referendum.
