Russia launched 205 drones at Ukraine during the night of October 4–5, including 49 Shahed jet-powered drones. Three Banderol drones struck the city of Kharkiv, killing one person and injuring eight others. One of the victims is in critical condition.
The attacks targeted the Industrialnyi district and affected residential buildings, an administrative building, and an industrial facility. Windows and roofs of several buildings were damaged, vehicles were destroyed, and fires broke out in the area. A bomb also struck a multi-story building.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense shot down or neutralized 172 drones by 08:00 on October 5. Strikes were reported at 13 locations, with fragments falling in three other areas.
The attack comes after the bombardments on October 2, when five people were killed and another 49 were injured in the Kharkiv region. Kyiv warns that Russia could intensify its attacks on major Ukrainian cities before winter.
