The thieves broke into the Louvre Museum, stealing royal jewelry worth 88 million euros, using a stolen moving truck and construction equipment to pose as workers. The four-person gang acted quickly, managing to steal eight pieces from the 19th century, including a necklace given by Napoleon I.
Investigators are analyzing over 150 DNA samples and fingerprints, and prosecutor Laure Beccuau expressed optimism regarding the recovery of the jewelry. Although the thieves left behind tools and were captured by surveillance cameras, the museum director acknowledged a "serious security failure." Investigators are exploring all hypotheses, including the involvement of accomplices from within the museum. The jewelry is considered difficult to sell in its current state, and time is essential for their recovery.
