Rob Jetten, the leader of the centrist liberal party D66, has a good chance of becoming the youngest and the first openly gay prime minister of the Netherlands, after D66 secured 26 seats in Parliament, tying with Geert Wilders' Party for Freedom (PVV). Although the election result is close, all parties have ruled out collaboration with the PVV, placing Jetten in a favorable position. In his campaign, Jetten promoted a pro-European and pro-climate policy, managing to attract voters with a positive message inspired by Barack Obama's slogan. He addressed issues such as the housing crisis and migration, promising ambitious solutions. He also managed to transform his public image, moving from the label of "Robot Jetten" to a charismatic leader. However, his career has also had difficult moments, including a weak electoral campaign in 2023. Jetten, engaged to hockey player Nicolás Keenan, has become a symbol of progress in Dutch politics.
