Netherlands Elections | The centrist D66 party has received the most votes in the Dutch legislative elections, according to exit polls. Rob Jetten, the leader of D66, could become the youngest and first openly gay prime minister of the Netherlands.

According to exit polls, the D66 party would be the winner of the elections, defeating Geert Wilders' Freedom Party (PVV). D66 is expected to win 27 seats in parliament, while the PVV would obtain 25. The main parties have ruled out forming a coalition with the PVV, and to form a government, an alliance of at least four parties is necessary, such as D66, CDA, VVD, and the Green-Left Party. Although Jetten's popularity has increased due to his positive campaign, forming a stable coalition could take months. The elections were seen as a test for the influence of the far right in Europe, and the result suggests that its appeal may be limited in the long term.
