Rheinmetall, a German group that manufactures weapons and arms, has announced that it will begin production of deep strike weapons, including cruise missiles and ballistic artillery, as part of a joint venture with the Dutch startup Destinus.

This initiative comes in the context of Europe strengthening its defense capabilities in the face of threats from Russia. Production is planned to start at the end of this year or the beginning of 2027.

Destinus, which recently conducted a test flight of its missiles, is already supplying weapons to Ukraine and has been included on the sanctions list of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Although Rheinmetall's revenues for the first quarter were below expectations, the company anticipates significant growth in orders and sales in the coming years, with a record order portfolio of 73 billion euros.
