Germany says it successfully tested the Israeli ballistic missile LORA, in the context of threats from Russia.

Germany successfully conducted a test of the LORA ballistic missile, manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries, in the North Atlantic on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The test took place in the context of Western powers making intense efforts to acquire long-range weaponry aimed at countering what they consider to be an increased threat from Russia. At the same time, it occurred after Germany accused Russia of an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which led authorities to take measures in response.

Although Germany currently does not possess ballistic missiles, the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the LORA system has a range of up to 500 km.

The head of the Navy, Jan Christian Kaack, stated that the test marks a new chapter in deterrence and preparation for maritime defense.

"Our units can successfully use the system, and its potential range exceeds everything we have seen so far," he stated in a press release.

Additionally, Germany is working on an improved version of the Taurus cruise missile, which will have an extended range and technological advancements, with production planned for 2029.

The Taurus missile is already used by the German armed forces to destroy strategic targets behind enemy lines.
