Five pro-Palestinian activists, known as "Ulm 5", were arrested on September 8, 2023, after they broke into the Elbit Systems factory in Germany, causing significant damage. They are accused of breaking and entering, property destruction, and participating in a criminal organization. Their families claim they have been held in prolonged detention, with limited access to visits and communication, and that they are facing extreme prison conditions. Their lawyer states that the German state wants to make an example of them, considering that their actions were motivated by the desire to stop arms deliveries to Israel. The trial will begin on Monday, and if found guilty, they risk up to five years in prison. The families of the activists believe that the treatment they are subjected to is disproportionate and has a political dimension, given the international context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
