Prince Harry, Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley and others have been ordered to pay £9.5 million (approximately $13 million) to the publisher Daily Mail, following a failed lawsuit regarding invasion of privacy.
Judge Matthew Nicklin ruled that the payment must be made by August 28. This represents an amount at the upper limit of expectations. The claimants, who lost the case in court, accused Associated Newspapers of illegal acts, such as phone hacking. The publisher vehemently denied the allegations, and the judge concluded that there was not enough evidence to support them. Among the claimants were also Doreen Lawrence, David Furnish, Sadie Frost, and Simon Hughes.
The decision was announced shortly after it was revealed that Harry and Meghan Markle will be moving back to the UK, after spending six years in California. It was also reported that Markle received an offer for an acting role in the U.K.
