Four police officers from Venezuela were arrested after being caught stealing money during post-earthquake rescue operations.

Four police officers from Venezuela have been arrested after being accused of committing robberies during rescue operations carried out following the earthquakes that affected the country. According to authorities, the agents allegedly took advantage of the chaos created by the disaster to steal goods from the homes of the victims.

The Ministry of Justice of Venezuela announced that the four agents have been arrested, dismissed from their positions, and referred to justice.

In the areas affected by the earthquakes, robberies and thefts continue to occur, although law enforcement has been mobilized to limit these incidents.

The earthquakes on June 24, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, caused major destruction, especially in the state of La Guaira and in Caracas, with a provisional toll of at least 2,000 dead and thousands missing. Rescue teams continue search and rescue operations.
