Poland is strengthening its border crossing points with Ukraine after Russian drones struck targets just a few kilometers from the Polish border over the weekend. The measures were announced Tuesday by Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who warned that Russia’s actions pose a threat to the security of Europe as a whole.

On Sunday, a Russian drone struck a passenger train in Ukraine, near the border with Poland. Another drone hit a truck near a gas station in the same area. Polish border guards subsequently announced the temporary suspension of border crossings.

Observation and security posts will be increased at the Dorohusk, Medyka, and Korczowa crossing points. Polish army engineers are building fortifications using plastic containers that can be filled with sand or gravel. The defense minister said that infrastructure used by the border guard is being reinforced as part of a decision adopted by the government in Warsaw.
