At the Yalta European Strategy conference, Radoslaw Sikorski criticized Hungary's actions, stating that blocking Ukraine's accession to the European Union represents a form of blackmail. The EU prioritizes expansion and reform, but Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban opposes this initiative, which could affect the unity of the Union. Ukraine submitted its application for EU membership in February 2022, and in the same year it received candidate country status.
