Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, emphasized the critical importance of the next two or three weeks for the American peace plan in Ukraine, mentioning that preliminary discussions between Russia and the USA have already taken place. In an intervention on the national radio station, Orban referred to a peace summit in Budapest, proposed by American President Donald Trump, which could include a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
Orban criticized Europe's decision to get involved in the Russo-Ukrainian war, stating that the American peace plan aims not only to save lives but also to keep Europe out of the conflict. According to some sources, the plan would involve Ukraine ceding territories in exchange for security guarantees from Russia, without Ukraine joining NATO.
