Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, stated on a social media platform that his country will not comply with the European Union agreement that provides for transfers and financial assistance for states under migratory pressure. Orban claimed that Brussels would force Hungary to pay more or to accept migrants, which he considers unacceptable, emphasizing that Hungary already spends enough to protect the external borders of the EU. At the press conference following the JAI Council, Commissioner Brunner expressed regret that Hungary does not support the initiative, mentioning that adherence to the rules is essential. Rasmus Stoklund, the Danish Minister for Immigration, emphasized that recent decisions must be viewed as a whole, highlighting the importance of controlling access in member states. During the meeting, EU states agreed on a solidarity reserve for 2026, which includes 21,000 migrant transfers and financial contributions of 420 million euros.
