Military tensions between North and South Korea are escalating after Pyongyang warned that the recent incident in which North Korean soldiers temporarily entered the demilitarized zone could lead to an "uncontrollable" confrontation. The South Korean military fired warning shots, calling the incursion a serious provocation. Relations between the two countries are at a low ebb amid recent missile launches by the North and South Korean efforts to resume talks. South Korea's new president, Lee Jae-myung, has vowed to continue talks despite the military provocations.
