The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that his country will react after Hamas delivered human remains that do not belong to the missing hostages, considering this gesture a violation of the ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas delivered a coffin with the remains of a deceased hostage, who had already been returned to the family for burial. Israeli ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir have called for a firm response from the prime minister, but any military action would require approval from Washington, which facilitated the ceasefire.

The spokesperson for Hamas, Hazem Qassem, stated that the organization will continue to try to deliver the remaining bodies, but the process is hindered by the massive destruction in Gaza and the lack of means for identification. Searches have intensified in the area, with the help of heavy machinery sent by Egypt to clear the rubble.
