At the NATO summit scheduled for next month in Ankara, member countries are considering a new military funding commitment worth 70 billion euros for Ukraine, according to statements from four NATO diplomats.

This proposal, announced by Germany, aims to create a mechanism to ensure transparency regarding financial support for Ukraine, in the context where some states complain about the unfair distribution of costs. A senior diplomat emphasized the importance of a firm commitment from Ankara to support Ukraine in the long term.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested more Patriot interceptors, essential for defense against Russian missiles. From January to April, European countries allocated 2 billion euros per month for military aid, a decrease compared to the previous year.

The summit on July 7-8 will address support for Ukraine, and discussions are ongoing to ensure a fair distribution of burdens among allies. The new commitment would include both new funds and resources from the 90 billion euro loan provided by the EU to Ukraine.
