Several hours after the terrorist attack on Bondi Beach in Sydney, a Muslim cemetery in the suburb of Narellan was desecrated with pig heads, an act considered by police as a possible hate crime. The incident was reported at 6 a.m., and police found pig heads and animal remains at the entrance of the cemetery. This anti-Muslim gesture could be a reprisal, considering that one of the suspects in the attack was investigated for links to the Islamic State.
The Muslim community in Australia condemned the attack at Bondi and called for unity and solidarity against violence. Following the attack, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the intention to introduce stricter gun laws. The Bondi attack had victims aged between 10 and 87 years, including a Holocaust survivor.
