The Hungarian energy company MOL has contacted the Government in Budapest to initiate the use of strategic oil reserves, estimating that it will be necessary to put approximately 250,000 tons of oil into circulation to ensure supply security. This measure comes in the wake of the Russian attack on the Druzhba pipeline, which disrupted Russian oil deliveries to Eastern Europe. The Croatian Minister of Economy, Ante Susnjar, rejected Hungary's request to allow the transport of Russian oil through the Adria pipeline but offered support for deliveries from other sources.
Refineries will be supplied with oil transported by sea, with the first deliveries expected to arrive at the Croatian port of Omisalj. Additionally, Minister Szijjarto emphasized that Hungary can import Russian oil by sea, but the Croatian minister warned that this contributes to financing the war in Ukraine and called for an end to dependence on Russian oil.
