On the night from Monday to Tuesday, Russia launched a massive drone attack on the port of Izmail, the largest Ukrainian port on the Danube, damaging a commercial vessel under the Panamanian flag, according to Deputy Prime Minister Oleksi Kuleba. He mentioned that several strikes were recorded in the port area, affecting infrastructure and equipment. Kuleba emphasized that the enemy deliberately targets critical infrastructure in the Odesa region.
One of the strikes caused a fire, but it was quickly extinguished. The port authority confirmed that the port of Izmail continues its operations despite the attack. The governor of the Odesa region, Oleh Kiper, added that a quay, a barge, and a workshop building were damaged, and several vehicles, including buses and an ambulance, were destroyed.
The roofs of six private buildings were also damaged, but no casualties were reported. Ukrainian air forces reported that Russia launched 129 drones and four missiles, of which 114 drones were shot down. Russia has consistently attacked Ukraine's maritime export routes, affecting the country's trade and economy.
