Russia launched a large-scale attack with missiles and drones on Ukraine. In Kyiv, the strikes affected residential blocks, a supermarket, and educational institutions in eight districts, and at least five people were injured. Explosions were also reported in other regions amid alerts of possible missile attacks from Oreshnik.
Around 1:00 AM local time, journalists on the scene reported a massive series of missile strikes on the capital of Ukraine, followed by new attacks at 3:00 AM. The Ukrainian Air Force warned that dozens of missiles were heading towards Kyiv, and at 00:55 issued a warning about a possible ballistic missile launch by Russia.
Timur Tkachenko, the head of the city's military administration, confirmed damage in several districts, including Obolon, Shevchenko, and Darnytsia, with at least five injured. Missile fragments hit a 24-story residential building and caused damage in various areas, including at a school and a supermarket.
Explosions were also reported in other cities, such as Cherkasy and Kropyvnytskyi.
This attack comes after President Zelensky's warning of a broader Russian assault.
