Marjorie Taylor Greene, an influential figure of the far right and a former supporter of Donald Trump, has announced that she will resign from Congress, with her last day in office on January 5, 2026. In a statement on social media, Greene emphasized that loyalty should be mutual and criticized the Trump administration for marginalizing Congress. She also mentioned that she was scorned in Washington for representing ordinary people. Greene had a dramatic falling out with Trump, who withdrew his support for her, calling her "Wacky Marjorie," following her prominent stance on the release of government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Greene was also the first Republican lawmaker to label Israel's attacks on Gaza as genocide. Her resignation is a clear sign of the growing divisions within the MAGA movement, in the context of strong Democratic victories in recent elections.
