Evans, a Kenyan athlete, was enrolled against his will in the Russian army during a vacation in St. Petersburg. After being approached by a man who promised him a job, he signed a contract in Russian, without knowing the consequences. He was taken to a military camp, where he was told that he had to fight or die. After a week of training, he managed to escape to the Ukrainian lines, fearing that he could be killed if he stayed. Now, he pleads not to be sent back to Russia, having a daughter who needs him. The Ukrainian brigade that published the testimony emphasizes that the forced recruitment of Africans by Russia is a known practice.
