Chechen military units, loyal to leader Ramzan Kadyrov, are prepared to intervene in Iran to support the armed forces of Tehran in the event of a ground invasion by the United States, according to reports cited by Press TV. These forces have declared their willingness to act, describing the conflict as a 'religious war' and a potential involvement as 'jihad'.
Although the claims have not been independently verified, they come against the backdrop of heightened tensions following weeks of airstrikes led by the US and Israel on Iranian sites. American officials have not confirmed plans for a ground operation, but military pressure on Iran continues.
In response, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against Israel and American positions in the region, accusing Ukraine of involvement in the conflict. Iran's ambassador to the UN claimed that Kiev has sent 'hundreds of experts' to assist US and Israeli-led operations.
The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry dismissed these accusations, emphasizing that Iran has no right to accuse Kiev, considering its support for Russia. A potential deployment of Chechen forces in Iran would mark an expansion of the conflict beyond the Middle East.
