Following the recognition of the Palestinian state by Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, called for the immediate annexation of the West Bank. Ben Gvir also proposed the destruction of the Palestinian Authority, while Smotrich argued that annexation is the only appropriate response. Prime Minister Netanyahu criticized the recognition as a reward for terrorism and emphasized the need to combat anti-Israeli propaganda.
