Israel has announced the approval of a significant contract with the United States, worth several billion euros, for the acquisition of two squadrons of fighter-bomber aircraft. This decision comes against the backdrop of ongoing tensions with Iran and hostilities with Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to AFP reports. The contract includes the delivery of a squadron of stealth F-35 aircraft from Lockheed Martin and a squadron of F-15IA from Boeing. Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized that these acquisitions are part of the strategic plan 'Israel's Shield', aimed at ensuring the country's air superiority for the coming decades. The announcement follows the adoption of the budget for 2026, which allocates over 41 billion euros for defense, the largest amount in Israel's history. Military spending has steadily increased following the conflict with Hamas, which began on October 7, 2023, expanding throughout the region.
