Millions of residents of Iran have been left without internet access since February 28, after the authorities in Tehran imposed a disconnection amid attacks carried out by the United States and Israel.
This measure has had a severe impact on the economy, especially on high-tech and online commerce. According to the organization NetBlocks, this disconnection has set a new record duration for an entire country. Although the local intranet has continued to function, access to international platforms remains restricted. Criticism of this conditional access system is growing, and some professionals do not benefit from this service, which generates discontent. The government spokesperson stated that the situation will normalize once the conflict ends, but many Iranians are facing financial difficulties and cannot afford the additional costs of a VPN subscription.
