The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route for energy transport, will be reopened following a agreement between the United States and Iran, aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East. However, Iran has announced that it will not return to the pre-war normalcy, intending to impose taxes on commercial ships after a 60-day transition period. The chief Iranian negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, emphasized Iran's sovereign rights over this route.

American President Donald Trump stated that the agreement has prevented a global economic crisis and avoided an escalation of the conflict. Trump also warned that attacks could resume if Iran does not comply with the terms of the agreement.

The complete reopening of maritime traffic will require demining operations, and several European states have been invited to participate. In the next 60 days, further negotiations will take place regarding the Iranian nuclear program and economic sanctions.
