Iran has declared that an agreement with the USA is still far off, despite the intensification of diplomatic negotiations. The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagaei, stated that the differences between the two countries are "deep and broad," and the issues under discussion — such as ending regional conflicts, lifting sanctions, and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz — cannot be resolved quickly. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Qatar are trying to mediate the dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
Iran is analyzing a new American proposal and is asking, among other things, for the lifting of sanctions, the unblocking of Iranian assets, and the recognition of its control over the Strait of Hormuz. On the American side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that there is "slight progress" in negotiations, but emphasized that Iran cannot impose taxes on this international maritime route.
