Greece is battling devastating wildfires, evacuating Kato Achaia in the Peloponnese, where flames have destroyed houses. More than 20 Romanian soldiers are intervening in the Megara area, while 4,900 firefighters are fighting on several fronts, including on the island of Zakynthos. Greece's civil protection ministry has raised the alert level because of the fire risk and strong winds are complicating fire-fighting efforts. Areas affected include Peloponnese, Lesbos and Halkidiki.
