The Georgian government has announced the opening of Stalin's wine cellar, which contains approximately 40,000 bottles of wine, some dating back to the 19th century. The auction aims to raise funds for the establishment of a wine school in Georgia. Irakli Gilauri, a collaborator of the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that this initiative will help promote Georgia among wine collectors. Georgia is considered the birthplace of wine, with an 8,000-year winemaking tradition.

Stalin, born in Georgia, was a wine enthusiast, and his collection includes rarities from Bordeaux and Georgian wines. The collection was confiscated by the Soviets after the Russian Revolution, and Stalin added his favorite varieties to it. Collectors who visited the cellar were impressed by the historical discoveries.
