Marcin Romanowski, former Deputy Minister of Justice in Poland, wanted for alleged corruption crimes, may be in Transnistria, according to an announcement from Polish authorities.

In a letter addressed to a court in Warsaw, Romanowski stated that he resides in Tiraspol and offered to appear before the court, provided that he remains free.

The spokesperson for the Warsaw prosecutor's office emphasized that they are not completely sure of the authenticity of the letter, as the signature has not yet been verified by an expert.

Romanowski, at the age of 50, is accused of having diverted funds intended for victims of crimes to politically motivated projects, accusations he denies.

He initially fled to Hungary, where he was granted asylum, but left the country after the new government decided not to protect him anymore.
