A NASA telescope fell on a family's farm in Texas. The device had been launched a day earlier from a research center in New Mexico, before engineers lost contact with it.

While preparing for work, Ann Vincent Walter noticed an object resembling a balloon in the sky and alerted the Hale County police. The object turned out to be a NASA telescope, named 'PICTURE-D', which had been launched the day before. The telescope, intended for testing images of distant planets, weighed 680 kg and fell on the Walter family's farm after losing contact with engineers, without causing any damage.
