Devastating fires in the western half of Spain have continued to spread, with 30,000 hectares burned in the last 24 hours, according to Copernicus satellite data. By Tuesday morning, the total area affected had reached 373,000 hectares, the worst year on record by EFFIS. The worst affected areas are provinces such as Zamora and Léon, where thousands of people have been evacuated. The recent end of the heatwave brings hopes of an improvement in the situation, with temperatures expected to drop by 10-12 degrees.
