The Finnish government has announced that it will allocate 28.5 million euros to Ukraine to support the reconstruction of the energy sector, which has been severely affected by Russian attacks on electrical infrastructure. This amount comes from development cooperation funds and will be used to partially finance the construction of several power plants by the Finnish company Wartsila, with the total cost of the project being 46.5 million euros.
The national energy company of Ukraine, Ukrnafta, will contribute the remaining 18 million euros to ensure the country's energy production. The Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio, emphasized the importance of a reliable energy supply, especially during winter, and highlighted Finland's expertise in the energy sector. The funding will be managed through the Finland-Ukraine Investment Fund, aimed at supporting public investments in Ukraine.
