EDIP, an ambitious European Commission plan to strengthen the European defense industrial base, is to be approved by the Permanent Representatives Committee. With a budget of €1.5bn, the program targets areas such as joint procurement and the integration of Ukrainian industry. However, 10 member states, including Romania, are challenging the restrictive criteria for cooperation with third countries as an obstacle to the development of the defense industry and a threat to security.
